I note we have a member named Hooked On Quack. Me too! Here's one of my favorites.

Meet the Quackenbush Junior Safety Rifle, one of their guns from back at the beginning of the 20th Century. My 1902 Sears catalog (reprint) offered them for a whopping $3.60! A box of 50-rds of long rifle cartridges was listed at 14-cents in that same catalog.

According to my records, I paid just under $500 for this one last year at on online gun auction out of Minnesota. There's another Junior that's coming up for sale on Sept. 30th. I think it was up to $300 last time I looked. I only need one...

Every Quack I own has their side-swing breech block system. They may have made other guns of different design, but I'm not sure. I'll have to look that up.

Anyone else like the old Quacks? Let's hear from you.

I love deadlines. I especially like that whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.

Turkeypaw, I can't honestly answer that. I haven't counted them, so let me just answer with, "NOT ENOUGH." I'm constantly adding to the herd, and letting go of only my duplicates when I upgrade a model.

Dew38, I can't honestly answer your question either! I don't know how it shoots, 'cause If you've read some of my other posts, you'll find I'm dedicated to NOT shooting any of these collectibles, and I've outlined my reasons.

Basically, I can't imagine firing one of these old timers and have it injure me or a bystander, PLUS ruin a valuable historical artifact. I've got too many modern weapons available to me for firing. No sane reason to jeopardize mine or others' safety AND a valuable gun. We are but the caretakers of these items for future generations to enjoy.

Here's a photo of an histoical little Brownie some owner decided to fire, and the consequences of that decision. DESTROYED, one of only some 33,000 Mossberg Brownies that will ever be made! SAD!

Now I can get off my pulpit. Some disagree with me and all I can say is, enjoy your guns as YOU see fit. I've said my piece.

Lots more to come.
